About The Tinfoil Tribune
The Tinfoil Tribune is a neutral database of conspiracy theories. For each one we lay out the claim, where it came from, the evidence on both sides, and a verdict based on the sources we cite.
Who we are
The Tribune is written and edited by a small, anonymous editorial team. We don't publish under personal bylines, so the stories are judged on their sources rather than on who wrote them. Every article is credited to "The Tinfoil Tribune Staff."
How we work
- Sources first. Every story links to the documents and reporting it relies on, such as government records, court filings, academic studies and established news outlets. We prefer primary and official sources where they exist.
- Claims are attributed. When something cannot be independently verified, we say who claimed it rather than stating it as fact.
- Fact-checked before publishing. Every quote, date and figure is checked against the cited sources before a story goes live.
- Original illustrations are labeled. Where we use an illustration instead of a photo, the caption says so.
Our verdicts
Each story carries one of four labels: Confirmed, Partly True, Unproven or Debunked. The label reflects what the cited sources establish, not what we believe. When a call is close we choose the more cautious label. "Unproven" does not mean false; it means the evidence we cite does not settle the question. Read the full method on How We Rate Stories.
Corrections and tips
If you spot an error or have a story you think we should look into, please use our contact form. We review every message, and we correct mistakes when the sources support the change.
